performance |
Cavcon
buildings will provide the minimum in situ airborne sound insulation required by Agrément
South Africa and satisfy the recommendations of SABS 0218 for the occupancy
classifications covered by this certificate. |
| Fire
performance |
Cavcon
external walls are classified as Type FR for all occupancy classes covered by this
certificate, except for occupancy classes J2 and J3 which are classified as Type F |
| Durability |
Buildings erected with this
system in all areas except the coastal area of Namibia, are assessed
as having a useful life of at least 30 years, provided they are given
adequate and regular maintenance. |
| Rain
penetration and damp-proofing |
Meets the
Agrément criteria for buildings in all climatic zones except the
coastal area of Namibia. |
| Structural
performance |
The
structural performance is satisfactory provided the buildings are within the dimensional
limitations set and the other requirements are adhered to. Where any of these limitations
are exceeded, the design of each building must be the responsibility of a professional
engineer. |
| Thermal
performance |
Cavcon
dwellings with ceilings compare reasonably with standard brick houses |
| Quality
management |
The quality
management system is based on recommendations contained in SABS ISO 9001 and ensures that
acceptable production standards are consistently maintained |
| Condensation |
There will
be more condensation in Cavcon dwellings without ceilings than in standard brick houses.
Houses erected in the SCCP Area must have ceilings. |
